Urban developers drive demand by supplementing smaller apartments with enhanced shared amenities featuring luxurious entertainment options and high-end finishes. In suburban Hamilton Lakes, market rate apartments typically offer more unit square footage than many downtown options, which is worth the drive for some renters. To level the playing field even further, M&R Development created an amazing amenity experience that can go head to head with any downtown property.
The club building at The Residences at Hamilton Lakes has enabled this suburban apartment community to appeal to young professionals who are seeking an urban lifestyle. “Coolness factor was really the main goal,” said Jeff Mulcrone, designer with BSB Design. The club design became a key differentiator. “Its modern elevation is very different from the typical ‘oversized house’ look of many suburban clubhouses.” The result appears more like an upscale restaurant than a clubhouse, and that feeling doesn’t stop at the exterior.
The L-shaped building frames the social spaces, wrapping around the pool courtyard and incorporating floor-to-ceiling windows to highlight the plan’s interconnectivity. Every room is filled with natural light and offers multiple views into adjoining areas – and sometimes completely through the building to the outdoor spaces beyond. At night, the club is alight with vibrancy, highlighted by these large windows. The hub of that activity is generally located in the most social wing of the clubhouse.
Here, an impressive demonstration kitchen rivals its downtown competition, featuring a fully retractable glass wall connecting it to the outdoor kitchen, fireplace and pool courtyard. Inside, the kitchen opens to an adjacent theatre room, completing a multi-functional space where residents can cook, lounge and comfortably entertain large groups in high style.
The clubhouse at The Residences at Hamilton Lakes exudes sophistication, enticing renters who value its urban lifestyle amenities within its suburban setting. ■
