In a surprisingly urban enclave 25 miles north of downtown, Britton Homes offers innovative options – including third floor loft-style lounges with rooftop patios – at lower price points than their downtown counterparts. Enhanced by floor plans that prioritize indoor/outdoor connectivity on every level, the Villas at Legacy West have redefined luxury living in Plano, Texas.
At first glance, the Villas are anything but typical. David L. Copenhaver, AIA, Partner with BSB Design, said, “An urban aesthetic informs these modern-style elevations. Clean lines in stucco, stone and tile look very contemporary, especially in this sophisticated color scheme, and the simplicity creates a timeless look.” Different window shapes and sizes accentuate the vertical elements, and expansive 12-foot wide glass sliding doors fill the interiors with natural light. These design variations create clear individuality for each unit, despite their five-foot side yards.
Daylight and views are crucial for narrow lots, especially in the luxury market, and this impacted room layout and window placement. For example, in one plan the kitchen was rotated into a framed alcove, providing separation from the other rooms while maintaining views to outdoor living. Transoms were placed above the upper cabinets to capture light from the side of the home; frosted glass was used where visibility from adjacent units was a concern.
Open plans feel bigger, and high flat ceilings were used in lieu of trays or other details to enhance that sense of openness. The U-shaped stairway features large windows and an open railing that visually expands each floor and adds architectural interest. It also provides space for the optional elevator without adjusting the floor plan. But whether they walk up or ride up, designers wanted to encourage homeowners to make the trek to the third floor. It offers top-notch entertainment and relaxation, including a game room/theatre room, lounge, wet bar, and covered outdoor terrace with fireplace.
The Villas at Legacy West pair these premium options with a fresh, edgy look to capture the essence of downtown luxury living. All five plans have plenty to offer even without the third floor, but it’s hard to resist a rooftop terrace. Most buyers have been eager to upgrade with numerous options, finding immense value in the lifestyle opportunities they create. ■
