SAA Fellow Kathy Marquis has been appointed Wyoming State Archivist. Marquis will lead the Wyoming State Archives after serving as deputy for the past four years and as interim for the past six months. She received a BA in history from the University of Michigan and an MLIS from Simmons College. Marquis has worked at the University of Michigan, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Minnesota Historical Society, and Albany County Public Library in Laramie. With Leslie Waggener, she is co-author of Local History Reference Collections for Public Libraries, published by the American Library Association.

Kathelene McCarty Smith has been appointed interim head of the University of North Carolina Greensboro’s (UNCG) Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives. Smith is an assistant professor in University Libraries and, until this appointment, served as instruction and outreach archivist. She earned a BA in history and an MA in art history from Louisiana State University and an MLIS from UNCG.

SAA Fellow Joan M. Schwartz, professor in the Department of Art History and Art Conservation and the Department of Geography at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, was recently appointed to a five-year term on the International Advisory Board of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences. She was recognized for her expertise in archives, acquisitions, teaching, research, institutional discourse, and other areas, particularly nineteenth-century photography.
