MDC’s talented faculty are recognized for being exemplary professionals who strive for excellence and embody the highest values of the College.

Miami Dade College proudly recognizes its most talented, world-class faculty members each year by awarding Endowed Teaching Chairs. In 2021, nine outstanding professors were chosen to receive the prestigious award, and in the Summer of 2022, a record 14 professors were tapped for the honor. These professors will now join the list of more than 300 Endowed Chairs honored since the program's inception in 1992.

Since 2001, 34 MDC students have benefitted from the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. The program provides funds to study or intern abroad. Mia Ruiz, a Gilman awardee and student in the Honors College at MDC’s North Campus got the opportunity to study in Italy. Ruiz, who aspires to be a medical doctor says, “Gilman has changed the outcome of so many students’ lives by making international travel more accessible. Now I can travel and experience another culture, and not just read about it in books.” Nine other MDC students were awarded the scholarship to travel to other countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Czech Republic, Morocco, and Japan.

MDC is advancing a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.
The acclaimed Honors College is expanding its presence to the Homestead Campus, welcoming its first class at the campus in the Fall of 2022.
