As Miami Dade College strives to continue providing students with cutting-edge educational opportunities that prepare them for success in their chosen fields, the College launched several innovative programs designed to provide hands-on experience and develop employment readiness skills.

SODA: Where Creativity Meets Innovation
Newly launched Student Operated Digital Agency (SODA) at the Business Innovation and Technology (BIT) Center, is the latest hands-on, experiential learning program that provides students with workforce-ready skills. Students have the opportunity to learn how a digital marketing agency operates, from collaborating with a team of creatives, to building marketing campaigns for clients. The program supports MDC’s marketing curriculum and helps students earn relevant industry certifications. “If you have an interest in marketing, this is a great way to get some experience and learn,” said student Minerva Roca, marketing director of SODA.

Homestead Campus Opens Healthcare Training Facilities
MDC’s Homestead Campus has expanded its healthcare education programs with the opening of a new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) lab, a state-of-the-art facility to train future responders, including emergency medical technicians and paramedics. The 3,854-square-foot lab offers the latest technology and training tools, designed to provide learning experiences that enable students to acquire the technical knowledge needed to function as healthcare providers in the pre-hospital environment. The lab is the second healthcare facility to open on campus in the past year. A nursing simulation center opened in 2022.

Game On: Embracing the World of Esports
The thrilling world of competitive video gaming is rapidly growing at Miami Dade College. First, with the MDC Esports program launching recently at the Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) at MDC’s Wolfson Campus – now, a whole new center has opened at the Kendall Campus to provide a space where students can put their gaming skills to the test. “With the esports industry rapidly growing, Miami Dade College is proud to provide a space where students can grasp a variety of skills, like problem-solving, and develop an interest in STEM pathways through the world of gaming,” said MDC President Madeline Pumariega. MDC joins nearly 200 collegiate esports programs nationwide.
