As our students continue to drive academic excellence, four Miami Dade College student publications—AXIS, Urbana, Miambiance and The Reporter—have been awarded the prestigious Pacemaker award. The prize, awarded by the Associated Collegiate Press, is the highest distinction given to collegiate publications.
This isn’t the first time our student publications have been awarded this honor. The Reporter has been recognized with three Pacemakers since its founding in 2010 and was awarded the prize in 2022. This is the second year in a row that both Axis and Urbana were recognized, and this is the third time that Miambiance took home the award.

Miami Dade College’s The Reporter has once again proven its excellence in journalism by being named the top college student newspaper in Florida for the twelfth consecutive year at the Florida College System Publications Association. “I was blessed to have a team that dedicated their efforts to the paper,” said Ammy Sanchez, editor-in-chief during the 2021-22 school year. “I’m proud of them and the work they have accomplished.”
