Four MDC students have been named recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Prestigious Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship out of sixteen MDC students who were also named semifinalists. All members of The Honors College, this year’s proud finalists are Kayla Ribeiro from the Kendall Campus and Javier Gil, Nathalie Saladrigas and Carlen Arevalo from the Padrón Campus.
This year, more than 1,700 students from 448 community colleges applied for the highly competitive national scholarship which provides students with up to $55,000 a year to complete their upper division studies. Our students are among only 60 who were selected.
Along with financial support, these new Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholars will receive comprehensive educational advising to guide them through the process of transitioning to a four-year college and preparing for their careers. Scholars will also receive opportunities for internships, study abroad and graduate school funding, as well as a connection to a network of thousands of Cooke Scholars and Alumni.
MDC named a 2022 Fulbright Hispanic-Serving Institution Leader by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. MDC is one of 43 institutions recognized.
