F A THER HENNEPIN FES TIV AL Champlin Chronicle Father Hennepin Festival June 10-12, 2011 The Father Hennepin Festival (FHF) Planning Committee welcomes you to be a part of this year’s event. To help journal your memories of the 2011 festival they have left blank spaces for you to fill in your own experiences! The treasure hunt begins Monday, June 6. All clues will be at the Champlin Super America (100 Milller Road). After reading the clues and dreaming of winning $500, I thought the medallion was hidden ____________. With American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and other shows offering viewers the option to vote, the 2011 FHF parade wanted in on the action. New this year you can text your vote for your favorite marching band. My favorite band was _____________ school because they had the best ______________. We will light up the night with three rocking bands this year. The Killer Hayseeds kick off the festival on Friday night under the Main Tent at 8 p.m. On Saturday night Modern Condition plays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by Uncle Chunk at 8 p.m. I loved the music by (circle one): The Killer Hayseeds – Modern Condition – Uncle Chunk. Whether you’re a car person or a craft person the festival has something to offer. A spectacular display of fireworks will be set off on Saturday night at 10:15 p.m. over the Mill Pond. The best views are from the main tent area in Mississippi Point Park and from the Champlin Plaza Shopping Center parking lot. The fireworks this year were the (circle one): Best – Brightest -Loudest -All of the Above! The Mississippi River will showcase the power boat races on Sunday, June 12th at Noon, with viewing spots found at Lower Point Park. The Mill Pond will host the Mayor and City Council fishing contest for kids on June 12th from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Meet at Doris Kemp Park to drop in a line. The pond will be stocked and the fishing will be great that morning. My kid caught a ________ pound fish (ok you can exaggerate a bit on this one if needed!) Families are invited to participate in the Trailhead Cycling Classic on Sunday, June 12th. This is a fun bike ride and not a race. This event is for all types of riders. The course begins at the Ice Forum and will wind through the Elm Creek Park Reserve. There is a shorter 3+ mile ride and a more intense 13 mile ride to choose from. Along the trail I saw __________ types of wildlife/wildflowers. With lots to do at the 2011 Father Hennepin Festival we hope you will join us and make your own memories. The FHF offers a chance to get out and see your friends and neighbors, while spending time with your family.
