As an allegory to the strength and resilience of the Miami Dade College family in the wake of Hurricane Irma, the Palmetum at MDC, North Campus weathered the storm with durability and flexibility. The more than 400 palm trees in the Palmetum were originally planted after Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and were chosen specifically for their ability to withstand strong storms.
