In its continued effort to serve the South Florida community, Miami Dade College recently hosted the annual Florida Mortuary Operations Response System (FEMORS) Preparedness Exercise at MDC, North Campus. Physicians, forensic scientists and members of the U.S. Army and National Guard spent hours practicing large-scale emergency response tactics, from disaster site recovery to victim identification and cataloging. The training, held in collaboration with the MDC School of Justice, MDC School of Science and The University of Florida, was part of ongoing disaster preparedness implemented by the State of Florida, which includes responding to any mass fatality incident in the event of a human-made or natural catastrophic incident. The School of Justice at Miami Dade College, North Campus has been training and educating public safety professionals for more than 40 years, both domestically and internationally. The school offers various degree options including a Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Safety Management, as well as college credit certificates in homeland security and crime scene technology. – AVG
