Indonesian Artists to Visit MDC The Deering Estate and Miami Dade College will host visiting artists and scholars from Indonesia this fall as part of the U.S.-Indonesia Partnership Program (USIPP), which works to expand academic partnerships between higher education institutions in the United States and Indonesia. The visit will represent the first international residency at the historic Deering Estate, now a Miami-Dade County park and nature preserve. MDC Professor Lyle Culver has been involved in a multi-year eco-art project with the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, including a faculty exchange and artist mentorship for both Indonesian and American students. Culver has previously traveled to Indonesia to collaborate with local artists and academics and has also organized a study abroad trip to the country for MDC students. Visiting artists will be housed at lodgings near the Deering Estate to work on pre-planned artistic projects.
