Miami Dade College graduate Delma Noel-Pratt is the new chief of police in Miami Gardens – and it’s a historic appointment. She is the first female to hold the position on a noninterim basis. Noel-Pratt, who studied criminal justice and earned an Associate in Arts degree from MDC in 1994, has had a distinguished 24-year career in law enforcement. She began her career as a public service aide in the Miami police department. After becoming an officer with the Miami-Dade Police, she moved up the ranks to sergeant, and then to captain, working in the bureau of public-corruption investigations. Prior to earning her latest promotion, she was a Miami-Dade Special Investigations Division chief. She was selected Miami Gardens’ police chief from among a host of applicants.
