This spring, the Wolfson Opera/Musical Theatre Ensemble presented the popular musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! Wolfson Ensemble Delights Audiences With Hit Musical Student performers in MDC’s Wolfson Opera/ Musical Theatre Ensemble delighted audiences this spring with their staging of the hit musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! Directed by Amy Davis and Emmanuel Schvartzman, with choreography by Lee Pugh, this musical comedy reinvigorates the revue by taking an entertaining journey through the spectrum of modern male-female relationships. First premiereing New Jersey’s American Stage company in 1995, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! Became one of the longest-running Broadway shows, with more than 5,000 performances in 10 years. Dr. Rosa M. Mayorga, chairperson for MDC’s Department of Arts and Philosophy said this work was a treat for both audience members and the students who had the opportunity to perfom. “The students can relate easily to the various comical situations encountered by the characters involved in different relationships at all stages of life from first date to marriage,” she said. The theater department at MDC develops talented students into technically skilled and creatively inspired professionals. Employing a rigorous course of study and close, personal attention, the theater department’s experienced faculty provides instruction in acting, movement and voice. Students study major works – from classical repertory through the 20th century – and bring what they’ve learned to the stage through a full schedule of workshops and productions.
