Exam Costs Often Reimbursed for In-Demand Fields For students enrolled in MDC’s career and technical education (CTE) programs, an industry certification can accelerate a career. An industry certification is an industry- recognized credential that employers understand and value. Common examples of industry certifications are Microsoft Certified Professional Developer, Certified Internet Web Development Professional, EMT Certification, National Licensed Registered Nurse, Autodesk Certified Professional – AutoCAD and many more. Industry certifications can be earned by students enrolled at MDC while pursuing an academic credential. The benefits to the student are many, including: • Access to many industry certification examinations at MDC • Incentive to continue toward academic goal • Potential for earning college credit • Early entry in a field or career of interest • Increased earning potential • Added value to résumés and future job prospects If that alone weren’t incentive enough to get an industry certification at any of MDC’s convenient locations, many students who choose careers like coding that are in high demand may also be eligible for a reimbursement of the examination cost. There are hundreds of industry certifications in areas as diverse as healthcare, legal, aviation and law enforcement, all aligned with programs offered at MDC. “If you are pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree, there are points along your academic pathway that prepare you to sit for nationally recognized industry certification examinations,” said Dr. Julie Alexander, MDC’s vice provost for Academic Affairs. “Even after you start a job in the field, you can bolster your earning capability by building your portfolio, and that can include additional certifications, credentials and degrees.” For more information about industry certifications, call Lejla Szabo at 305-237-3122 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
