Entering college is an exciting rite of passage filled with endless opportunities to meet new people, learn new things and embrace new experiences. But for many students, the journey also comes with its fair share of challenges. To ensure all students are ready for a successful academic life, Wolfson Campus hosted Miami Dade College’s first-ever Finn’s Resource Fair — named after the MDC’s beloved mascot — earlier this spring. The event, which was sponsored by Wolfson Campus Retention and Transition Services and Student Life, introduced students to the array of support services available both on and off campus. Advisement and Career Services, as well as representatives from various MDC departments were on-hand to answer academic questions and showcase the vast credit and noncredit program options available at MDC including industry certifications and credit certificates along with associate and bachelor’s degrees. Representatives from the College’s Financial Aid office were also available to help students address any concerns around paying for college. But it wasn’t all business. Students also had the opportunity to learn how they can enhance their academic experience by getting involved with other activities and organizations including Student Life, The Idea Center at Miami Dade College, the Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy, Year-Up and Educate Tomorrow. Finn’s Resource Fair is just one of the many support services offered by Miami Dade College’s Campus Retention and Transition Services, which are dedicated to supporting students with everything they need on the road to graduation. – AVG
