Film Series Shines a Spotlight on the Fashion Industry As part of its continued effort to foster creativity and evoke a deep understanding of the fashion industry, MDC’s Miami Fashion Institute in partnership with the Miami Fashion Film Festival, launched Fashion Film Fridays, a new bi-weekly series that allows students and members of the community to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of fashion, from designing to branding. The series features a curated selection of fashion film shorts and documentaries that inform and address prevailing topics within the industry. It also highlights how film has become an integral part of fashion campaigns, brand storytelling and marketing fashion across multiple platforms. The schedule for April includes True Cost, a 2015 documentary exploring the impact of fashion on people and the planet and a collection of shorts themed around artisanal craftsmanship. The College’s Miami Fashion Institute is an international fashion hub and the only one of its kind at a public higher education institution in Florida. Housed at Wolfson Campus, MFI offers Associate in Science degrees in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising. MFI also works with local and international designers to develop a 21st century skilled workforce that supports industry growth and demand. To learn more, visit www.mdc.edu/fashion.
