The Idea Center and Libra Group are once again seeking competitors for Miami Dade College’s second annual American Entrepreneurship Award, a competition designed to support new business ventures in the community. The contest kicked off with an event on March 30 at MDC’s Wolfson Campus. Launched with an initial $500,000 commitment from the Libra Group, the American Entrepreneurship Award at The Idea Center offers winners funding, mentorship and other support to bring their great ideas to fruition. Winners get a chance to share in $125,000 in business start-up funding. The kick-off event brought together applicants and prospective competitors with last year’s winners, who used design thinking exercises to improve new entries to the competition. Entries can be submitted online at www.americanaward.com. The deadline to submit an application is April 27, 2017. Winners will be announced in June.
