How about BBQ prepared and served by a U.S. veteran-owned BBQ Food Truck? Hawaii’s Tin Hut BBQ founder and owner Frank Diaz is a retired U.S. Army veteran-turned D.O.D. Antiterrorism Specialist, who launched his barbeque-inspired food truck business in the Honolulu area three years ago. Motivated by his passion for barbeque and his admiration for the MKT (mobile kitchen trailer), Diaz was inspired to develop a mobile barbeque business he could take to the civilian sector. He now serves up authentic barbeque using recipes that he has personally crafted and perfected, from melt-in-your mouth brisket to savory barbecue ribs and even some popular local favorites like the Tin Hut BBQ Grilled Cheese. From their popular Schofield Barracks Kiosk and a growing fleet of food trucks, “SGT Tin Hut” and his team have been serving up mainland-style smoked BBQ to Oahu’s military and local communities for the past three years and are going strong! In fact, the newest member of the Tin Hut BBQ fleet, a custom-built “Mercedes of food trucks” built by Texas Cart Builder will be arriving any day now! Just this 4th of July, Diaz and his team served up BBQ at not just one, but two major 4th of July celebrations on Oahu, including Eat The Street at Turtle Bay’s Fabled 4th Celebration, and at Great Life Hawaii’s 4th of July Celebration at Pearl Harbor’s Ward Field.
