Kansas city Barbeque society – america’s Barbeque experts!® apRil 2015 postmaster: dated Material. please deliver by april 10, 2015 the Monthly publication of the Kansas city Barbeque society BBQ People Really Are the Best Once again the BBQ community shows its support for Kookers Kare, and had a great time doing it! The food was plentiful, the door prizes were awe-some and the contest entries were in great demand. The event would not be such a success were it not for the support of contest organizers, sponsors, the Kookers Kare committee and most of all the BBQ’ers who never fail to show their support for Kookers Kare. Special thanks to Kurzweil’s Country Meats and the KCBS for providing the hogs, which seem to get better every year. Looking for a contest to compete in or some new BBQ supplies, check out the list of our sponsors and contest organizers that donated to our event on our website. The money that was raised at our event will be donated to food pantries around the Midwest, and used to buy turkeys for families in the fall. Kook-ers Kare also supports Harvester BackSnack program each year with a cash donation. The program provides a weekly backpack filled with nutritious, child-friendly food for schoolchildren to take home over the weekend. More than 100,000 children in Harvesters’ service area receive free and re-duced-price school meals during the week, and many of those are at risk of hunger on weekends. The “Day at the Beach” theme was a big hit. There were lots of tropical outfits and at least one person who was a little bit too comfortable in their coconut bra. The sellout crowd of 300 enjoyed each other’s company and side dishes that would win awards at any contest. In what we hope will be an annual event, Randy Robinett handed out the 2014 year end awards for the Mo/Kan BBQ Border Wars. As most peo-ple know the Mo/Kan BBQ Border war is no longer an active organization. Kookers Kare is currently working with Randy Robinett on some ideas that I think will draw a lot of interest and excitement in the BBQ world. Especially here in the mid-west. Once we have a few more details we will start letting people know what we are doing behind the scenes. Inside Retail list the BUllsheet 4 Books, seasonings & More WelcoMe!
