MIAMI DADE COLLEGE COLLEGE The 2012 Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) at Miami Dade College beams with opti-mism this year, offering a copi-ous lineup of great movies from around the world during the Festi-val’s run March 2-11. With 300 filmmakers, scores of movie stars and more than 70,000 attendees expected to at-Kevin Kline tend the 10-day event, the 29th season of this world-renowned festival will feature 100 films, including an impressive number of firsts, with at least 11 world, five international, 10 North American and 10 U.S. premieres. Thirty-five coun-tries will be represented, and gracing this year’s Film Festival F Brings Stars to Miami ’ s Silver Screens World, International and North American Premieres Dominate 29th Season silver screen will be the new work of nine Oscar winners, including Diane Keaton , Kevin Kline , Dianne Wiest , Marcia Gay Harden , Ellen Burstyn , Whoopi Goldberg , Rachel Weisz , Susan Sarandon and composer Da-vid Byrne . Opening MIFF on Friday, March 2, is the world premiere of the musical tour-de-force Mariachi Gringo by ac-claimed director Tom Gustafson . Mitt Romney . Helping the candidates more clearly define their positions, MDC students asked insightful questions about where the politicians stand on a wide range of issues. The event on Jan. 25 was attend-ed by hundreds of people, includ-ing Miami Dade College students, USHCC members and local busi-ness leaders. Major contenders for the Re-publican presidential nomination convened at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus for Univisión’s Meet the Candidates forum to ar-ticulate their positions on issues vi-tal to the upcoming election. The program was hosted by award-winning journalist Jorge Ramos , in partnership with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC).
